October Results and Happenings

I know my blogging has not been very consistent but the least I can do is update it at the end of this month. Poker wise the month was great and life wise it was good also because I finally started my new job. I also went to Dallas for the TX/OU game and that was loads of fun.

So, I got the job. My official title is a performance management analyst. Basically they said I am an inside consultant for the company. Seems like I will get lots of good experience and I have an excellent chance to progress through the corporate ranks. The company wants me to move to Germantown, MD and I am in the process of looking for a place to live. It really sucks because rent is so high and a roommate would really help the financial burden. As for now, they have me stationed here in Jacksonville for a month. I go to the Naval Air Station everyday and learn how they run their warehouse and distribution operation. It's pretty cool seeing all the planes and everything, but it sucks being by myself in a city like Jacksonville and living out of a hotel. It will be nice when my gf comes down here for a couple days and we should be able to get a hotel on the beach as well. One good thing is that there is a poker room down the street, but Florida rules blow and the max buy in is 100.

In sports, the Texas Longhorns are looking stronger than ever and the Tennessee Vols are going to be a force to reckon with next year. The Alabama game was a heartbreaker, but we got the #1 kicker coming in and we can all say bye bye to Daniel 'donk' Lincoln. Texas put a beating on Oklahoma State today and should bump past Alabama to #2 in the rankings. My prediction is a Florida-Texas National Championship, Colt McCoy gets the Heisman due to his recent increase in numbers and Texas wins on the last drive of the game. Hopefully, all that happens.

On for poker. I was on pace for a huge huge month until a downswing hit me 2/3rd of the way through. Luckily I was able to grind out some hands and get it back plus some more. Still an improvement from last month and hopefully I can continue the winning ways. This month was a profit of $12,700 which was a little more than last month and it always feels good to continue up the ladder. Live wise I've played 2 days here in Jacksonville and I'm up around $800 playing 2/5NL with a $100 max buy in. LOL. I play my first 3 buyins like a rebuy tourney, just shoving everything in order to get a decent stack. Once you get the stack in this game the rest is cakewalk. People are very passive and terrible and they all think they are pros. Giving you advice and life teachings. Sometimes I just want to tell people off but I'd rather just continue the small talk and appease them. Here is the biggest hand of the month. GG. Shipshape.

September was good

September was a great month for me. I got a job, went on many roadtrips, my gf got 2nd in a sit-n-go, and poker wise it was my best month ever. I'll start with my job. I'm starting on October 19th and will be doing work with defense contractors at all their various sites. Basically, performing metric analysis and other efficiency type models. That's all I really know about it and I will be finding out more as the weeks go by. They will eventually be moving me to Maryland but for now I get to stay in Houston.

2 weeks ago I went to New Orleans with a bunch of other hooligans. We nicknamed our group the NOliggans and basically tore the city up (strip club warriors). All the people I was with were all Longhorn fans so we watched that game and a couple stayed with me to watch the Tennessee game. Tennessee looked alright, but until we can get a new QB we will not beat Florida. The highlight of the trip was finding this bar called Jager Haus (2 dots on top of the U). It was basically a coffee shop that served jager as well. Pretty fun place and they even had berry jager. The low point of the trip was my short and unsuccessful trip to Harrah's. I was there for 40 min and managed to lose 2k in blackjack. I literally won 1 hand the entire time I was there and it didn't help that I was super drunk the whole time. O well, fun times. Looking forward to the Knoxville trip in a week for the Tennessee/Georgia game then Dallas the next week for Texas/Oklahoma.

Poker this month has been great. I got a big boost when I came back home one night and played "whitelime" at 10 20 HU. Turned out to be a great decision and managed to make a buy in off of him. Ever since that night, I've been on a huge heater with table selection and playing less tables. Anywhere from 2/4NL to 5/10NL have been my main games, with a couple shots at 10/20 and 25/50. I've really been working on my heads up game, because the win rates are so much better. The only problem is finding the fish to play against. Tourney wise, I did not really play many this month. Had one decent cash in Mini Ftops 1 for around $100 but other than that nothing too exciting. On another note, my gf downloaded FTP and using my wonderful hold em lesson I gave her, started to play sit n gos. Shes played 3 and placed 2nd twice. Shipshape!!! Here's my graph for the month, right at hand 27.5k is where I played "whitelime" HU. Overall made $12.5k, and I've realized to stop playing limit when I'm drunk. The limit games drained my BR by $2k. Note to self: No more limit. Hopefully I can run this good in October as well. Here is the biggest pot of the month. GG. Shipshape.

Big Things?

This past week has been loads of fun. Gf came into town on Thursday and there were plenty of good times. We went out in town center and the next day we went to midtown. Both nights were complete gg'ness along with many friends being there. The weekend was also groundbreaking because I introduced my gf to 24. 24 is probably the best TV series ever and we watched half of season 2 and I think she is officially hooked. At least I hope she is. Even though I have already seen it, the season was still extremely intense because I did not remember many of the events that occurred throughout the 24 hours. Hopefully gf can come back and visit sometime soon before we go to Knoxville for the Tennessee/Georgia game. On job news, I am leaving on Sept. 21st to Maryland for an interview and I have another interview in Houston coming up soon. Things are moving forward and I really need to focus and prepare for these because I don't want to look like a donk when they ask me questions. Might have to cut down on my hands, but I've hit 30k hands for the month so I can slow down a bit.

Let's talk about sports. Only 1 of my teams won this week. The Texas Longhorns, which is expected, but they did not look too good in the first half against Wyoming. Hopefully they can get on track because Texas Tech always plays them tough and that is their next opponent. The Tennessee Volunteers lost to a measly UCLA team. I blame one person for the loss and that is Jonathan Crompton (Crapton). Everyone thought he had turned it around after throwing 5 TDs against a high school like Western Kentucky team, and he didn't dissapoint. Reverting back to his old ways he threw interception after interception. He has some good weapons this year, but just can't seem to throw the ball to the people wearing the same jersey as he is. This is a big problem and I hope he figures something out because Florida is on the slate next week and there's a possibility they win by 100 against us. Lastly, the Houston Texans had the worst game in the history of the franchise. This is supposed to be the year the Texans turn it all around and make a run at the playoffs, but they could not beat the New York Jets and their rookie QB. Sanchez looked like pro-bowl QB and made some great throws. I'm not saying he's going to make the pro-bowl, but he did not look like ur average rookie out there. Kubiak better get his team together or else he's going to be out of a job sooner than later.

Poker wise, I have had my best week in a long long time. I moved up to the 2/4 and 3/6 cap games. I've also mixed in some 2/4 6max no cap as well. The cap games help me to control variance in a monetary aspect because sometimes the big swings take a toll on me. I've also been running real well, and have noticed that there are tons of fish at these games who are playing over 60% of the pots consistently. I've continued to isolate them, and it amazes me to see how bad some of these players are. I know they aren't tilting because the same thing happens day after day, but I'm not complaining. The graph to the right is the past 7 days. I really miss playing live games, so I'm thinking about making a week trip to Vegas and just doing some long hours at the table. It's always good to mix it up a little bit because staring at a computer screen can drive you a little insane.
Tourney wise, I played miniFTOPS event #1 and made a decent run. Got 275/16000+, but I made a dumb move late in the tourney. I was 6/400 at one point and took 2 bad beats in a row and let my emotion take over. I tried to re-steal on a player with A3 and he woke up with AA. This crippled me and I was out 1 orbit later. I guess you learn from your mistakes and I plan on playing some more events this week. Here is my bad beat of the month so far, and this has happend to me 3 times this month as well. Poker is always fun. Lastly, tell me if u like the new color, I had a couple people tell me the font was hurting their eyes, so I randomly started clicking new colors till something looked decent and not girly. GG. Shipshape.

Swongsss

Been a while since I've posted, but I've been hitting the tables like a madman recently. Had a couple sessions of 6k+ hands and been on a big time roller coaster. I took the move up to 200NL and had a 2k heater then a 2k downer and it repeated 1 more time. I decided I needed to refocus because what most people don't realize is that poker is a mental heavyweight fight. In order to calm my nerves I made a simple cash out then dropped back down to 100NL. I have re-established a goal to be back at 40 buy-ins for 200NL by the end of the month. So far it has been going good and I am halfway to that goal and it's only 8 days into the month. I am really itching to play a live game so a quick roadtrip to Lake Charles might be in store sometime soon, but I am going to New Orleans in 2 weeks so there might be a slight chance I play a bit. Mini Ftops is starting in 2 days and I'm excited I will get to play some of the events. Hopefully a final table will be in store and I can run good 1 time please. I'd post some graphs but as usual poker copilot got some update and has started being gay again. Everything is reimporting and putting me on life tilt.

Life wise, I've been getting hammered alot with my family friends. They are all here for a month and it has been a long time since we have all been in Houston at the same time. Ben (texanssoccer07) was in town this past weekend and all I can say is that I don't remember Saturday night except for waking up Sunday morning on the floor in my room near the bathroom. This weekend my girlfriend is coming over from Nashville and it should be a great weekend. My sister and her 2 little kids will be in town also so there should be plenty of fun activities to go around. The highlight of the past 2 weeks was my friend Jason and I getting kicked off the golf course because we only had 1 set of clubs. 2 fat old guys behind us thought we were playing slow when it was really the group of 4 in front of us who we were waiting on. The 2 fat lardy guys decided to complain to the marshall and the marshall decided to enforce the 1 set of clubs per player rule on us. I was angry because I am not the best golfer and I was actually having my best round ever. I was actually winning after the first 5 holes. Hanh.

Got the new iPhone today and it was way faster than the old 2G one i had. Kinda sucks that they didn't have any black cover ones, so I ended up getting the white one. Since I have a case on it I guess it won't really matter. I have a job interview coming on in 2 weeks in Maryland so hopefully that goes well. Got some books I need to read for that so I might need to cut down the poker just a little bit. Finally, P90x is going really well. I had to take a day break between one of the workouts because I was just too sore. When you can't walk/turn your head/get up/raise your arms in the air/move without pain, I think that's a great day to take a little break. I'm out. GG. Shipshape.

P90x = amazing but 200NL blows

P90x. It's finally here and I've never been so excited and motivated to get back to working out. This should be a great program and give me something different to do while I'm not playing poker. It also beats the hell out of the monotonous workouts I usually do in the gym. Upbeat stuff that has proven results will be great and I think my mom is going to try and jump in on it too. That should be interesting.

This past weekend one of my family friends got married and WOW, it was a blast. Threw a great bachelor party on Thursday that involved a party bus around Houston. The rest of the weekend continued to be more debauchery and all I remember after the wedding on Sunday is still being awake Monday morning outside on the driveway with 2 beers in my hand and my friends dad walking out for work. Mission accomplished= great weekend. Got to see lots of friends and family and it was awesome having everyone there together at once.

The Houston Astros officially blow. What a lame season but that's ok. The Houston Texans have a great defense this year and we are really hoping to make that break and get to the playoffs. As long as Andre Johnson, Steve Slaton and Matt Shaub stay healthy on the offense I think we will sneak in. Won't be easy since the Colts and Titans are in our division, but we play both of those teams pretty tough. I am really stoked about going to opening day against the Jets and my gf is coming in town so she will get it come to her first Texans game. (She's a Titans fan). Bahh. Sidenote: The Texas Longhorns are the future national champions. Sam Bradford can suck it. Tebow, you scare me.

Poker wise it's been going great. I have really been crushing the 100NL 6-max tables with a couple of shots at 200NL. One part of my game that is really helping me is thinking about my bet amounts more instead of being on auto-pilot. Fellow shipshape crew member texanssocer07 and I had a quick conversation and it involved betting the smallest amount to win the pot. If you really think about it, most people auto-pot most the time. A bet of 1/3 or 2/5 of the pot gets the same thing done most the time and in the long-run you can really see your BB/100 hands increase by 1BB or 2BB. This is a huge difference over 100k hands and most the time when u bet the smallest amount with air, the double barrel bluff isn't as expensive, and usually works.

Taking a shot at 200NL did not really work out too well for me. Did well in the beginning but took a series of bad beats/bad action hands that had me down 6 buyins in an hour. One hand in particular, I limp AA UTG and of course no raisers. Flop comes A99, bingo! UTG+1 pots and I flat. I check-raise him after the turn brings the 2 of spades and he insta-shoves. I snap call and he tables J9 off. I'm excited because I am about to scoop a 300BB pot, but ooops. 9 on the river. Love it. Thank goodness for BR management because I did not tilt after this, but instead dropped down in stakes and I've managed to get it all back plus 4 more buyins on top at 100NL. MiniFtops is on its way and I've begun the satelites and $T accumulation. So far I've jumped into Event #1 via a 4 person HU shootout and I did a superturbo saty to the 200k double deuce then unregistered. There is a contest going on pocketfives here. It involves taking your top 10 miniftop scores and putting a point system along with them. Top individuals and teams will get paid out at the end. Rivermeplz and I are trying to put a team together and hopefully we finalize this because it will be great motivation and a great chance to make some extra cash.

My graph would be much better but that 200NL session killed. I know people always say you have to improve your non-showdown winnings, but I really do not beleive in this because there are so many styles of play and you have to go with what is most comfortable to you and what works the best. My whole reason of playing is to make sure the "winnings" line is constantly going up and that I am constantly improving my game by plugging leaks and places where I'm spewing off money. (Hand 22.5k is the 200NL shot). In the graph on the right I am hoping to sustain that winrate for the 100NL games but it's going to be tough. Hopefully the doomswitch does not set in (knock on wood). GG. Shipshape.

Boreddd!

I am finally back home after being in college for 5 years. I am officially bored out of my mind. I have not been in the mood to play poker or really do much of anything as well. It's weird but I kind of feel like going back to school. Maybe it's because that has been the norm for me for the past 5 years or maybe I miss the college life and my college friends and don't really want to go out into the real world yet. Who knows? Sugar Land is still the same except we got one new bar which is really cool. If you ever come, it is called Loggia, so go to it. Don't tell them I sent you because they won't know who I am.

So far this break I've been chillin with a bunch of friends and playing lots and lots of video games. Since my xbox has the red rings of death, I've been playing Playstation 3 at T-maggs' house and also borrowing other people's xbox's. T-maggs and I went on a streak of 2 days straight of Fifa online while downing plenty of alchol in the process. I never thought I could go on tilt playing Fifa, but wouldn't you know, it happend. We both went on a streak of about 5 hours without winning a game. Let it be known that we are decent players and at one time we were both individually ranked in the top 200. It was similar to a bad downswing. Every shot hit the post, we lost every shootout, and it seemed like every shot the other team had would bounce off of every player and somehow go in. Very frustrating. After some sleep we turned it around and went back to our winning days. I was pretty exhausted after this Fifa marathon and 2 nights of going out after that I decided to just relax at home and recover enough to hopefully start playing poker again next week.

Saw the movie District 9, and I have to say that it was really good. I don't want to give anything away, but I highly recommend it. I also just discovered that we have OnDemand on our TVs at home, so I moved a mattress into our movie room and started going down the list. I've watched every UFC fight, every HBO series and some of the worst movies known to man. I am just buying time until the P90x stuff I ordered comes in the mail. I am very excited for this and can't wait to get started.

Since I have not been playing much I have been railing all my friends and they have been putting up good results. Shipshape crew members Rivermeplz has been dominating omaha and omaha hi lo tourneys with almost a final table every day this week. There are so many I can't even keep up. Andy "themoccasin" Danger had a deep run in the Sunday Mulligan but got donked off late to get 20th. Almost there. I feel like one of us is going to get that big 5 or 6 figure score here soon. Hopefully one of us will ship a Mini Ftops event. Time to get some sleep and get ready to hop back on the virtual felts. GG. Shipshape.

Done!!

It's been a while since I posted, but I'm done!! No more school! It was such a great feeling turning in that final Spanish exam. I had a huge cheese on my face and now I'm sitting on the couch drinking and donking around FTP. The movers finally confirmed and they are going to ship my car out tomorrow sometime then I'm off to bum a ride from a friend and go celebrate my Gf's birthday which is today (Happy Birthday).

Poker wise I have not really played much due to moving and not being in a comfortable place to play. I donked around in the $14+$1 super turbo omaha hi and ended up finishing 2nd for ~$400. I should have won but doom switch set in during HU play and the other dude won 4 allins in a row. O well. Still a bingo tourney that is fun to play.

I'm going to keep this short because it's celebration time. GG. Shipshape.

Habanero....Surprise?

I have no idea how to start this blog. It has been an eventful couple of days. First off, I've been watching the food channel religiously and got somewhat inspired to be the next Bobby Flay. I decided to try and make some of his green chili burgers so I drove over to the local food city and bought green chili's, jalapeno peppers and habanero peppers to mix into the burgers. I come home very excited and pull out our dull knives along with the cutting board. I start chopping up all the chili's chef style then go about to wash my hands. Mistake #1. I then go about my business and decided to take a piss. Mistake #2. Holy #$%*. Literally, 5 minutes later, my junk is on fire. I can't even explain the pain. It feels as if someone lit a bonfire in my pants. The pain is unbearable for 3 hours!! I start googling remedies and the first thing I find is that when cutting peppers you have to wash the area with bleach because of the high concentration of capisicum or something. GG me. I finally find a remedy that tells me you need to use vegetable oil. I go on to put my junk in vegetable oil for 20 minutes then take a freezing cold shower for 1 hour. After this long shower, vegetable oil and half a bottle of body wash the fire is gone. The feeling after is undescribable. It felt so good and I felt so relieved. I had the biggest smile on my face and decided that it would be the perfect time to start grinding. The session was one of my best recently and I went on to win 8 buyins along with clearing my $275 mid year iron man bonus. Great day for the bankroll, but I am not sure the pain was worth it. The burgers were also some of the best I've ever had. Thanks Bobby Flay.

The weekend got much better after the fire burning incident. Friday night we all decide to go out and get a couple drinks. We go out to our favorite bar (Half Barrel) and throw down some ice cold brews and take a couple shots. We then head over to another bar across the street and this is where the fun begins. I walk in and see all my friends there. I was like damn, what are all these people doing here, usually they call me when they go out. Then I see my girlfriend sitting at the bar and I'm like wtf. She was supposed to come in Saturday afternoon because she had something else to do. Much to my surprise she is amazing and it was surprise going away party/weekend for me. I can say I was 100% surprised and had no idea. It was a great night and a great time seeing all those people come out for the going away party. We repeated the feat Saturday night with a keg, rockband, flip cup and another night of debauchery at the bars. I have to say that this was the best surprise I've ever had. Thanks gf. Highlight of the night had to be one of my friends doing the soulja boi dance around all the pool tables. (We all know who you are.) Bah.

I didn't play much poker this weekend, but we saw Orphan on Sunday. Pretty good movie, and kind of freaky also. I know I am never going to adopt after seeing that movie. It's storming pretty badly over here right now and the internet is being super gay and keeps timing out every 2 minuts so it's making it really hard for me to play online. Really frustrating because I'm bored, just watched the finale of Daisy of Love and did I mention that I'm bored. FMI (Fu*k my internet). Hopefully the network people fix this problem so I can play a bit because I am not tired at all. Maybe this is a sign that I should do some Spanish homework. <---- Ya right. GG. Shipshape.

Grind Grind Grind

Holy! downswingaments. After the FT on Sunday FTP really turned on the rollercoaster switch. Had to fight through 2 7 buy in downswings the past 4 days. The .50 1 6max tables are really fun to play with tons of 3 and 4 betting. Really makes the game interesting and challenging. I think I'm getting it together since switching back from FR since I don't have my big monitor anymore. I beleive I can 8 table 6 max, but I'm going to just stick with 6 for now since you really have to think on some decision instead of being on auto pilot in FR. I've decided I'm going to start mixing in more tournies to my schedule. I am also going to make it a point to build up some T$ so I can play a couple FTOPS events as well.

Had an oral exam in Spanish today and it went really well. Just 10 more days of class and I'm free from the education world. This class is similar to having a 30hr a week job because of the sheer volume of homework that is involved. 3.5 hrs of class then 3 more hours of online and book work are enough to make anyone go crazy.

This weekend should be a nice time to relax. Really looking forward to posting up in the living room while watching lots and lots of movies. My gf (Hi!) is also coming into town on Saturday for her last trip to Knoxville while I'm there at least. Word of advice: Knoxville is one broke ass city.

Shipshape crew has been doing real well lately. "1m2g00d" had a double final table experience on Tuesday and took home ~$1k for his efforts. Congrats on that and hopefully we can all FT/Ship some FTOPS events. I think we are all due. GG. Shipshape.

Things starting to turn around

Since last week was really bad, this week had to get off to a good start. Decided to play a couple tourneys on Sunday and was out early in a bunch except 1. It was the 200k double deuce on FTP and had 11k runners. I usually don't like playing monster fields, but I used 4,400 FTPs to join in and read the tag line, "Bring $22 and a dream." I navigated the field pretty well and always had the average stack. When we got down to 45 players I won 2 big flips to propel me to the final 18. This is where I started getting really lucky. My 77 ran into JJ and I rivered a flush then my A7 outdrew AQ to keep me alive. I eventually final tabled and pushed with AQ but I was ousted by AK for 8th place and $3100. I feel terrible about my play because I knew he had a big hand, but just got impatient in a bad spot. I could have easily folded preflop but I guess I'm a big fish since I didn't. O well. Still a nice payout, but I really wanted the 33k for first. I'm going to grind a bit after class everyday so I can maintain my iron man status and clear the mid-year bonus.

In other news, I'm possibly going to the Horseshoe in Indiana on Tuesday for the day with some buddies. It all depends on my Spanish class's agenda for Wednesday. The poker room there is really nice and it brings in a lot of easy money from neighboring big cities. Only downfall is that you have to pay for drinks because Indiana state law does not allow for the free solicitation of alchol.

I've finally started to pack up my apartment to get ready for my drive home. I've planned it out and decided to go to Nashville for 4 days and spend time with my gf, then head over to Tunica on the way back. After Tunica I'm going to stop in Baton Rouge for a night and stay with some family, then finish it off all the way back to good 'ol Sugar Land, Texas. It'll be nice to sit at home for a while since I've rarely been home the past 4.5 years. Ship this job offer that I've been working on and everything should be playing out perfectly. Time to finish some espanol. GG. Shipshape

Sunday majors blow

Played the 750k on FTP and got donked out. My AK ran into a super fish's monster A6. Of course he hit his 3 outer on the river to send me packing. That's poker. Also played a couple other tourneys this week and couldn't hold the big hand to get that big stack. I'm still looking forward to the middle of August where I can start the grind back at the .50/1 tables and make some nice cash. Those big payouts in the tourneys are still intriguing and hard to stay away from.
I have an interview with a consulting company later today and hopefully that goes well. Would really love to have a job right when I finish school so I don't have a gap in my resume. The money would be great to have for next year's WSOP. Ship some bracelets one time.
Got to keep this one short so I can prepare for this interview. GG. Shipshape.

Robbed!!

FML. I wake up Thursday morning to go to Spanish and I can't find my backpack. I look around and notice my 24in monitor gone as well. I knock on my roomates door and we find out the Wii and all the Wii games are gone also. GG. We had been robbed sometime during the night. This really sucks, but the culprits could not have been dumber. They took my wallet as well and used my card at McDonalds. I don't know why because there was $300 cash in my wallet as well. Idiots. Much to my dismay I had a check book in my backpack and they started cashing checks and signing my name, but as dumb as they are, they wrote their names on the check and have a huge security fingerprint on each one. So now it's all in the investigators hands. Hopefully they aprehend the robbers quickly so we can get our stuff back. This really blows because I had to close my bank account and I have no money. It's also frustrating because now all the places they cashed those checks at are coming after me since the checks never went through. Just a big hassle, but in the end it should be fine. I'm just hoping the process does not drag through, but it shouldn't since we did alot of investigative work and built up good evidence to give to the police department.
Poker wise I've decided to play the 750k guarantee today and some other tourneys which I'm going to use some tokens for. Maybe this week will turn around with a 135k ship in a Sunday major. Run good one time.
On another note, I talked about a guy who ran $100 to $70k. An update on him shows that he ended up losing it all or his account got hacked. It's hard to tell, but this is a good warning to everyone to keep your passwords safe and if you play on Stars to get the pincode generator. There is nothing worse than seeing your bankroll at $0 when you log in. Then you find out its some hacker who chip dumped everything to a friend. Honestly, the poker sites are not responsible for this as much as you would want to hate them. So keep your stuff safe!!! GG. Shipshape.

Tunica

Tunica was lots of fun, but -EV financially. My 2 buddies and I arrived at the Gold Strike around 930pm on Thursday. We checked in then headed to the blackjack tables. I came up with the great idea of going to the high limit room and managed to lose 1k in 12 hands. GG. After having my quickest blackjack session ever I decided to go up to the poker room to get these losses back. I carried on to play for 5 hours and managed to make $600 at the 1/2 NL game. The games had some decent players but they were easily exploitable if you played back at them. After the session I decided to call it a night and head to bed.
The next day we all got up late and ate at the food court. We headed back to the blackjack tables and we all made money. I was up about $300 after some single-deck blackjack, then ran up to the poker room. Big hand of the session involved me straddling. 7 players limped in and I rose it to $25 with AKs. Short stack with $80 goes all in and another guy says f' it and goes all in with $100. I insta-call and was up against 55 and 99. Much to my liking I turned a flush....oops. I was now finally up on the trip, but drunkness starts to kick in.
We had all been drinking heavily and I was starting to feel it. I'll keep the rest of the night short, but it basically boiled down to me losing $1500 in blackjack. I was pretty pissed at myself the next morning and decided to just cut my losses short. Grinded a break-even day and just chilled the rest of the trip until we had to go home on Sunday.

Blackjack: -$2500
Poker: +$1000

No more dumb blackjack for me..lol. Just stick to poker and stop playing the dumb 'fun' games.

Online poker wise I've realized I am not going to come close to my goals. I'm already a week behind and this Spanish class that just started is alot more work then I thought. It's class for 3.5 hours then almost 3 hours of homework a day. In order to ensure that I do not mess up and keep myself from getting my degree I cashed out almost everything on Full Tilt and Stars so I don't grind instead of studying. This will give me a much needed break from poker, allow me to concentrate and finish this class, and give me a chance to apply for some jobs. I was reading about a guy who deposited $100 and ran it to $70k playing PLO here. I decided to try so I cashed out down to $500 on FTP and went for it. Much to my dismay it did not work out. LOL. It was worth a shot.

Time to go back to the library and watch some dumb Spanish movie. GG. Shipshape.

July and a personal prop bet

The month of June is finally over and overall it was a pretty good month. Made around 2k in 18k hands and was helped out with a final table in a $24+$2 tourney for around $650. I've decided to start the month of July off by cashing my online bankroll to $1k and apply a strict BR management approach. My goal is to turn this into $2500 by the end of the month and hopefully I can achieve this with higher volumes. I was motivated to do this because I decided to read the Ferguson $0 to $10k challenge and I really wanted to give this a shot except start with $1k instead of free rolling it up forever. Hopefully this works out and I can refine my game with more discipline.

Goals:
- Make $1500
- Don't step out of my bankroll
- Run good
- 45k hands
- Finish last class and get my degree
- Find a job for 6 months
- Clear iron man bonus
- Workout more

Tomorrow is my final exam for my logistics class and right after me and a couple buds are heading to Tunica for 4 days. This should be a great time to relax and play some easy live poker and degen it up in blackjack. Hopefully the weekend turns out to be profitable and I come back with thousands of dollars. Bah, ya right.

Transformers and super downswing

Monday was a gross poker day!!! Lost set over set 4 times and AA to KK 3 times. went down 8 buyins in around 2 hours. Controlled my tilt well though and won a $200+$10 HU then brought back my -$800 to around -$380 for the day in cash games. Overall lost about $200 so I can't really complain. The rest of the time of the week I spent grinding back up to where I was at and finally im back in the green for the week. I'm starting to learn the grind and stop trying to move up in stakes and cover my losses. Check out the nasty graphs to see the grossness.

Highlight day of the week: Tuesday
Went to class at 1pm and got out at 3pm. I had that stupid manufacturing project to complete and I did not start it yet. As I told yall earlier, it supposedly takes forever, and they were not joking. Spent 8 straight hours at the library clicking away trying to get the numbers right and eventually finished up the 5 page paper. I rewarded myself by seeing one of the best movies ever: TRANSFORMERS! Man, I really love transformers. But if I was to grade the movies it gets an A for sure. The action sequences were amazing and now they better hurry up and come out with the 3rd one.

Last night I stayed up for 14 hours straight watching Season 7 of 24. It is definetly my favorite TV show and I highly recommend it to anyone. It gets you hooked and you literally can't stop or fall asleep. They just do not stop with the undermining plots and twists and it literally keeps you wanting more.

I was going to talk about some poker strategy this post, but I'm going to hold off since I have a paper and presentation to do for tomorrow morning. Shipshape. GG.

Super Punch Out

Apple screwed me this weekend. Waited in line on Friday for an eternity and right when I was buying my iPhone they told me my dad had to be present because he is the primary account holder. #$&*@$*@. That's what I wanted to say, but instead I walked over to Game Stop and purchased Super Punch Out. The game is loads of fun and a great way to get over Apple problems.

Instead of going to Nashville my girlfriend decided to come here since there was a big party going down and lots of people were coming into town. The party was not bad, got super drunk and actually did not play any normal poker. Instead of losing a couple buyins drunk I went to the .01/.02 table and lost $10 while having a great time. Wish I could have played more poker, but the break was good and hopefully I will be back at it tomorrow.

I am screwed in my summer Logistics class. We have a big part of some project due on Tuesday and I have no idea how to operate the manufacturing simulator. Supposedly it takes at least 10 hours to learn the program and I have not even downloaded the nasty program. O well, I only need a D in the class so who really cares.

I probably should go start that project so GG. Shipshape.

The Wireless Internet Blows

Alrite, I could not post yesterday because our broke ass internet service went out all night. Pretty gross because I took a long nap and looked forward to grinding all night. All in all last night was lame poker wise. Today was better though, got 1k hands in and made a little over a buy in so it worked out. I was really happy with my play because I did not stack off on a couple cooler hands and it felt good to min loss those hands where most people go broke. One example, Villain in middle position raises to $3 and I call in the BB with 55. Flop comes A88 and its check check. Turn brings a 5 giving me the boat and I bet out $4 with villain insta calling. River is a blank and I check. Villain bets $10 and I just had a feeling so I flat called. Villain tables A8 for a flopped boat and I was extremely happy I saved myself alot of money.

I will probably not play much this weekend since I'm going to Nashville to visit my girlfriend for the weekend. Should be a great time and a nice little break. This might keep me from getting Iron status but I think I'll be happy with Gold for this month.

Played more basketball today and felt great. Knees were not hurting and I felt like my old basketball days. The best thing of the day was finalizing my Tunica trip for Jul 2-5th. We are staying at the Gold Strike and it should be a great time to degen it up in Blackjack and play some poker. Since I'm probably not going to post this weekend I'll leave yall with the updated graph at close to 10k hands. GG. Shipshape.

Basketball is killing my knees

GG to my knees. For some reason I can't stop playing basketball even though my knees kill me to the point where I can't walk afterwords. Played with all my roomates for 3 hours today and I feel fine when I play, but I after I feel like an 85 year old man with rheumatoid arthritis. O well though, I could use the cardio.

Class was pointless as usual. We got out early and I learned absolutely nothing. Sometimes I wonder if I could have just paid the university all 4 years in advance and gotten the diploma. Things would be so much easier that way.

Poker wise I totally forgot to state the stakes I've been playing. My new thing is .50/1NL Full Ring cash games. FR is the only way I can keep up with 10+ tables and it seems to be real low variance as long as I control my tilt tendencies and don't jump into a 5/10 game. Today's session was real good. Took a couple bad beats early but recovered nicely to a positive day. I'll post an updated graph sometime later this week.

If you get a chance Youtube Bryce Harper. Some 16yr old high school baseball player who's supposed to be the "Lebron James" of baseball. His highlight video is pretty nasty and he launched some 550ft home run. Must be nice.

Time to go grind some more. GG. Shipshape.

Summer startup

I guess the time has come, so I've decided to start my own blog finally. I'm going to use this blog to track my weekly life and poker adventures. Poker wise, since I have a donk Mac I have to use Poker Copilot which caps my hands at 150k, so I just recently reset it. I'm starting with June 12th so here's my graph so far.

So far so good. It's only ~5k hands but I'm hoping this blog will keep me honest with my results and make me a better player.

Life wise, I'm taking a stupid summer class that is keeping me away from Vegas and the WSOP. I would give anything to drop this class, but obviously my degree is more important.

I'll keep this entry short and will def be making many updatements. GG.
